What is Journalism/ What is a journalist? The duty of a journalist is to investigate areas which would otherwise not be reported to the general public , allowing the masses to have a more informed world view, to help them better interact with the society we are a part of. I believe that a journalist should always try to remain impartial when they are producing a story, releasing their articles as an unbiased account, leaving it up to the consumer to interpret the information. Due to the ease in which any individual can post first hand accounts to online media, I believe that journalism as a profession may undergo some changes. As it is the primary role of a journalist to report news to the public, as clearly and truthfully as is possible, I see no differentiation between the role a professional journalist plays in reporting news, and those with a first hand account of certain events, as both the eye witness account and the journalist’s primary goal is to inform the pub...
